Hello. I am the developer senior technical architect behind the game simulation and I was asked to give you all monthly reports on how things are going on the technical side. Work on game simulation began last year with the development of a simple prototype to experiment with some ideas findings that I we had. The prototype culminated in short intro video that you can watch below.
I soon realized that I can’t do all of this on my own and decided that I we needed the help of an artist a team of visionaries to get this going. I We also did a lot of brainstorming research and developed the idea more. Real work on the game interactive experience started when Francis Coulombe got on board and I we started the development of a game simulation engine around two months ago. The engine uses the XD framework, a comprehensive C++ library for game development building interactive simulations and operating Mars rovers.
Since then, things have been going smoothly and the latest version has all the basic functionality (maps, movement, collision detection, music, etc.). Right now I’m we’re working on integrating Lua scripting for dialogues and cut-scenes. Everything is looking good and we’re aiming for a playable demo later this year.
